Popular or complicated WordPress posts should probably become their own WordPress pages that are accessible to site visitors from the site menu. In this how-to we’ll be taking an existing post and turning it into a page.
To do the conversion we will use the WordPress plugin pTypeConverter. This plugin will convert any of your posts into pages and back again. Very handy.
Step 1 – Install the pTypeConverter plugin
1. Navigate to the Plugins section on the WordPress Admin page and click Add New.
2. Type pTypeConverter into the search field and click the Search Plugins button.
3. Click on the plugin’s Install Now link
4. The plugin will install. When done click on the Activate Plugin link.
Step 2 – Convert your Posts into Pages
1. Find pTypeConverter in the Tools section of the WordPress admin page.
2. Select page from the drop down list. This will be what we are converting our items to.
3. Select the posts to be converted. DO NOT SELECT ANYTHING ELSE!
4. Click on the convert button to convert your post into a page.
5. pTypeConverter will tell you when the items have been converted.
6. The post is now a page that can be accessed in the Pages section of the WordPress admin page.
7. Update the page information as required. In this case, I made the page a child of the WordPress page. This will make it appear on the WordPress menu I have on the homepage.
8. Post is now a page that is accessible from the menu on the homepage.
